SAROD 

  • The Sarod is a stringed musical instrument, used mainly in Indian classical music.
  • Along with the Sitar, it is the most popular and prominent instrument in Hindustani (Northern Indian) classical music.
  • The sarod is known for a deep, weighty, introspective sound (contrast with the sweet, overtone-rich texture of the Sitar) with sympathetic strings that give it a resonant, reverberant quality. 

  

SITAR

  • This is a Ravi Shankar Style Sitar.
  • It has seven main Pegs and 13 small pegs for sympathetic (Tarab) strings.
  • Hand-carved natural bone Main and Tarab (sympathetic) bridge.
  • Steel strings are German made and Bronze and Brass strings are English-made.
  • The main pegs are fitted precisely into the taper reamer holes on the headstock.
  • The frets are made of German Silver wire and the intonation of the frets is appropriately placed.
  • There are finely hand engraved flowers on the edges of the main pillar and a leaf-carved design on the main gourd which makes the visual of this sitar beautiful.
  • The body of the Sitar is made of well-seasoned high-quality toon wood (Red Cider) holding a well-seasoned dried natural pumpkin gourd/Tumba/resonator.

 

TANPURA
