Odyssey Premiere 'Bb' Tenor Saxophone Outfit

    OTS800

Tenor saxophones, a bigger, more booming or huskier tone than altos and, as such, have become the main voice of blues, rock & roll, swing and commercial  music. Tenor saxophones  also take more airflow but with the right reed and mouthpiece they shouldn’t really be significantly harder work for an enthusiastic beginner. With its rich, smoky tone and warmth, for many people the tenor is the definitive sax sound.  The tenor and the alto are the two most commonly used saxophones. The tenor is pitched in the  key of Bb  (while the alto is pitched in the key of  Eb), and written as a transposing instrument in the treble clef, sounding an octave and a major second lower than the written pitch.  All models in the Odyssey range of high quality brass band and orchestral instruments have been meticulously designed down to the finest details by Peter Pollard. • Odyssey Premiere 'Bb/F' French Horn Outfit

Odyssey Premiere 'Bb/F' French Horn Outfit

    OFH1750BF

The F/Bb full-double horn is the most common and widely used horn today. It includes both the F and Bb "sides" of the French horn (and their respective timbres) within a single instrument.  Brass family  instruments produce their unique sound by the player buzzing his/her lips while blowing air through a cup or funnel shaped mouthpiece. To produce higher or lower pitches, the player adjusts the opening between his/her lips. The brass family can trace its ancestry back to herald French horns, hunting horns, and military bugles. The main instruments of the brass family include the trumpet, trombone, french horn and tuba. The horn or  French horn  consists of about 12 feet of narrow tubing wound into a circle. The player obtains different notes on the horn with a clear mellow sound by pressing valves with the left hand and by moving the right hand inside of the bell.  The French horn has the widest tonal range of all brass instruments. Its extremely rich, soft timbre gives it a special quality somewhere between brass and woodwinds, enabling it to blend well with the sound of many other instruments. It is also one of the more expressive instruments, thanks to the player’s ability to alter the tone and fine-tune the pitch by putting a hand in the bell  All models in the Odyssey range of high quality brass band and orchestral instruments have been meticulously designed down to the finest details by Peter Pollard. The bore size alone combines the best of projection volume and air flow, delivering an abundance of signature Trumpet sounds with exceptional tonal qualities.  Red  Brass, also known as  Rose brass has the highest copper content at around 90% and gives a warmer and mellower tone than that of alloys with a higher zinc content. With a rose brass bell (4.79"/121.7mm and rose brass lead pipe, nickel outer brass tuning slides, water key and Monel valves, the Odyssey Premiere 'C' Trumpet with a clear lacquer finish and two material build is a real eye catcher without doubt, but it’s also the performance to cost ratio that makes this beautiful Premiere 'C' Trumpet a winner. Players from students to seriously professional musicians have commented on the excellent response, superb intonation and the high quality materials chosen in the construction.  The 7c size mouthpiece, with its shallower, medium cup size is ideal for beginners, offering less effort to produce smooth sounds and reach the higher registers, whilst combining the natural deeper, darker tones the Trumpet is known for, tones that are unique among brass instruments and play a major role within orchestras, jazz and commercial bands.  The response, intonation and all around performance of the Odyssey Premiere 'C' Trumpet coupled with the high quality materials, make this an ideal instrument for the first time player, teacher, or the most experienced musician. As a company producing some of the world’s finest brasswind instruments, Odyssey recognise the fact that protection whilst travelling with a delicate instrument is paramount. To ensure players can maintain a high standard with this instrument, Odyssey has included gloves and a cleaning cloth, whilst a plush lined, Zero-gravity ‘backpack’ hard foam, canvas covered case with shoulder straps takes all the worry out of commuting with such a delicate instrument.  Specification  Rose brass bell and lead pipe Cupronickel outer tuning slides Single braced main tuning slide Monel valves One water key Mouthpiece 7C inc Clear lacquer finish Bell diameter: 4.79"/121.7mm Bore size: 0.46"/11.73mm Zero-gravity ‘backpack’ hard foam, plush lined, canvas covered case with shoulder straps  Accessories Gloves, cleaning cloth Includes additional tuning and valve slides to allow the trumpet to be tuned to Bb Taking proper care of your instrument will also help you produce the best sound quality possible, we recommend Odyssey and Ultra-Pure brand accessories. Odyssey Premiere 'Eb' (high F# to low A) Baritone Saxophone Outfit

    OBS800

The  Baritone Saxophone  is a member of the  saxophone  family of instruments, larger (and lower-pitched) than the tenor  saxophone, but smaller (and higher-pitched) than the bass. It is the lowest-pitched  saxophone  in common use - the bass, contrabass and subcontrabass  saxophones  are relatively uncommon.  It is a transposing instrument in the  key of Eb, pitched an octave plus a major sixth lower than written. It is one octave lower than the alto saxophone.  Because the Baritone is one of the lowest pitched Saxophones in the woodwind family, it creates a beautiful smooth sound, with a wonderful deep tone - and it is this that sets the Baritone Saxophone apart. It’s hardly surprising that, with over 50 years experience and having listened to the ‘wants’ of countless high profile musicians, this master craftsman is one of the most sought after custom brass and woodwind builders in the world.    At Odyssey, we recognise the significant contribution that an instrument makes to the willingness of a student to persevere, practice, pursue the process of learning to control and master the instrument, enjoy making music and progress  With this in mind all of our Saxophone family have been tested in France, at BG, and fitted with the best BG Ligatures possible for each instrument.   With a luscious polished brass lacquered body, offset with clear lacquered parts, the aesthetics of the 'Eb' Baritone Saxophone from the Odyssey Premiere Series speak for themselves.   A real eye catcher without doubt, but it’s also the performance to cost ratio that make this beautiful Baritone Sax a winner. • Odyssey Premiere Curved 'Bb' Soprano Saxophone Outfit

Odyssey Premiere Curved 'Bb' Soprano Saxophone Outfit

    OSS650C

Straight Soprano Sax vs Curved Soprano Sax  Obviously the first difference is in the look. Some people may prefer the look of one over the other, but the aesthetic difference also contributes to the feel and sound. It’s often said that from the players perspective the curved model gives a more immediate ‘feedback’. This is due to the bell projecting some of the sound back towards you.  It depends on your situation. For example if it’s for a younger player (under 10) then the curved may be the best option as it’s smaller in the hands and might be a good step before the Alto Saxophone.  If you’re already an experienced Alto/Tenor player then compare a straight and a curved back-to-back to feel the differences. Which one do you feel physically comfortable with and which ones sound do you prefer? The soprano is the third smallest member of the saxophone family, which consists (from smallest to largest) of the  soprillo, sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, bass, contrabass saxophone and tubax. Soprano  saxophones are the smallest and thus highest-pitched  saxophone in common use.  All models in the Odyssey range of high quality brass band and orchestral instruments have been meticulously designed down to the finest details by Peter Pollard. It’s hardly surprising that, with over 50 years experience and having listened to the ‘wants’ of countless high profile musicians, this master craftsman is one of the most sought after custom brass and woodwind builders in the world.   At Odyssey, we recognise the significant contribution that an instrument makes to the willingness of a student to persevere, practice, pursue the process of learning to control and master the instrument, enjoy making music and progress. With this in mind all our Saxophone family have been tested in France at BG, and fitted with the best BG Ligatures possible for each instrument.   With a luscious polished brass lacquered body, offset with clear lacquered parts, the aesthetics of the Curved 'Bb' Soprano Saxophone from the Odyssey Premiere Series speak for themselves.   A real eye catcher without doubt, but it’s also the performance to cost ratio that make this beautiful Soprano Sax a winner. Players from students to seriously professional musicians have commented on the excellent response, it has been designed to provide comfort and security when performing in the high register, while maintaining a beautiful warm sound in any range - with superb intonation. As with all Odyssey instruments only the highest quality materials are chosen in the construction.  Reliable Beginners Instrument This Curved 'Bb" Soprano Sax is ideal for young  beginners (under 10 years) due to its relatively  small body  which is comfortable to hold.  The combination of this instrument's size and range makes it extremely versatile and a popular choice. The Soprano is a good Introduction to the young player who wants to progress to the Alto Saxophone.  Strong & Durable Body This instrument has been designed with affordability, durability and comfort in mind. The  body is fully braced  for strength helping it stand up to the demands of regular play and transport to and from lessons. The  adjustable thumb rest, bell joint, neck and stack adjusting screws can be used to make the set-up more comfortable. The saxophone's brass body is finished with a protective lacquer.  Smooth Response & Tone Blue steel springs provide a  robust and durable  action and give a brightness and snap to the instrument's sound whilst domed reflectors aid projection. This Sax has a light, free blowing response that will reward new players with excellent intonation and a stability and evenness throughout the registers. Precision drawn tone holes allow maximum air passage through the instrument.  An auxiliary high F# key provides extra versatility. These features make it easy for students to start seeing results fast.    As a company producing some of the world’s finest brasswindinstruments, Odyssey recognise the fact that protection whilst travelling with a delicate instrument is paramount. To ensure players can maintain a high standard with this instrument, Odyssey has included gloves, cleaning cloth, cork grease and neck sling. • Odyssey Premiere Junior 'C' Oboe Outfit

Odyssey Premiere Junior 'C' Oboe Outfit

    OBE1200

The Oboe is a difficult instrument, but worth it!Unlike with other wind instruments, there tends to be an excess of breath. Therefore, there is no handicap for people of a smaller stature. The structure of the keys is also more compact than that of the clarinet or the flute, and players do not need to press on the holes with their fingers directly, so there is no problem for people with small hands. Arguably, people with small hands even have an advantage.  Clear, bright, penetrating, acerbic, keen, biting, rasping, reedy, powerful, robust, full, insistent. The  sound  quality of the  oboe  is very versatile and ranges from the thick notes in the low register to the thin and piercing high notes.   Student oboe models have a simplified key system as they are meant to be a starting instrument. They are basic and made lacking two keys: the left F and low Bb.  Still, it is no less challenging for a beginner. It serves to guide them into the right feel of playing the oboe. The Odyssey Premiere Junior 'C' Oboe is made from a high quality ABS plastic resin which has many advantages. ABS Pros : • Durability • Does not crack • Longer life • No break-in period • Can better withstand occasional playing • Can better withstand harsher playing environments i.e. cold air-conditioning down-drafts in well ventilated band room, for example, or a spring outdoor park concert! • Reacts less to moisture and temperature changes As a company producing some of the world’s finest brasswind instruments, Odyssey recognise the fact that protection whilst travelling with a delicate instrument is paramount. To ensure players can maintain a high standard with this instrument, Odyssey has includes both a cleaning and pull through cloth, whilst a plush lined, hardshell wood case/leatherette covered with padded carry bag takes all the worry out of commuting with such a delicate instrument. Specification• ABS/Wood composite body • Simplified conservatory model • Silver plated key work • High quality pads • Steel rods and screws • Silver plated finish  • Hard shell case: Wood case/ leatherette cover with carry bag plush lined with shoulder straps • Accessories: Cleaning cloth, pull through cloth  Taking proper care of your instrument will also help you produce the best sound quality possible, we recommend Odyssey and Ultra-Pure brand accessories. With a luscious polished brass lacquered body, offset with clear lacquered parts, the aesthetics of the Straight 'Bb' Soprano Saxophone from the Odyssey Premiere Series speak for themselves. As a company producing some of the world’s finest brasswind instruments, Odyssey recognise the fact that protection whilst travelling with a delicate instrument is paramount. To ensure players can maintain a high standard with this instrument, Odyssey has included gloves, cleaning cloth, cork grease and neck sling. A plush lined, Zero-gravity ‘backpack’ hard foam, canvas covered case with shoulder straps takes all the worry out of commuting with such a delicate instrument.
